Kids Can Play It All By Themselves A big part of growing up is learning how to do things on your own.

With a few seconds of instruction from an adult or older child, most children age four and up learn to play the game with little or no additional assistance.

Ideal for 4- to 6-year-old Pre-Readers and Early Readers

  • All text is read aloud to the player.
  • A moving finger connects the narration to the text, teaching children to read while entertaining them.
  • A total vocabulary of 429 words.
  • A total reading length of 1783 words.
Age Games: Animal ReaderTM teaches kids important skills while they play:
  • Listening
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Moving and hovering the mouse cursor and clicking one mouse button
  • Sounding out words
  • Sight reading a basic vocabulary of about 400 words

Real Learning To Build Self-Esteem

Thirty-five animals walk, swim, skitter, and gallop across Animal Reader's screen.

Players use the buttons to sound out the words and select the correct animal name.

Clicking the correct name brings up a happy face on the button and praise and a fun fact at the top of the screen.

Clicking an incorrect name brings up a sad face and a message encouraging the child to try again.

Fun Facts for Curious Minds

Five fun facts about each animal amuse - and often surprise - children and their parents.

The fun facts are also useful for impressing grandparents.

Big Buttons for Little Fingers

Young children do not have the fine motor control required to hit a radio button or check box with a cursor. The large buttons in Animal Reader can be used easily by most 4-year-olds and some advanced 3-year-olds.

Bright Colors for Bright Eyes

Kids like color!

Buttons in a variety of colors help kids distinguish one item from another, an important pre-reading skill.

Animated animals in natural colors are set against black and white backgrounds.

Auxiliary screens show the animals against full-color artwork.

Music to Play By

Choose among lively music for Celtic harp, calm piano music, or no music.

What Customers Are Saying

Age Games: Animal Reader is a marvelous game. My nephew and I have spent several hours playing and interacting throughout the game. I was amazingly impressed with the amount of information and most of all, the fun we had while playing the game. The animation is perfectly done and my nephew enjoyed learning the fun facts associated with each animal. This game is very entertaining to a child. I find myself playing the game alone as it brings back fun memories from my childhood. If parents are seeking a game where their children can learn and have fun at the same time, then Age Games: Animal Reader is the game for you. The game is reasonably priced and should be in every home where there is a child. – Meagan C.

Accessibility

All text buttons have been tested for use by red/green color-blind children.

Our beta-testers play the game both with and without sound. Hearing-impaired children who can read can play the game in its entirety.

Non-reading hearing-impaired children will learn to read the names of the animals. When the correct animal-name button is selected, a happy face appears on the button, telling the child without words that the answer is correct. A sad face shows that an incorrect name has been chosen.

We're sorry, but at this time Age Games: Animal Reader is not appropriate for children who cannot see the computer screen or hold a mouse.
